How Much Is Before and After School Care?
As parents, finding reliable, quality care for your children before and after school is essential, and we know cost is a big factor in this decision. Before and After School Care, also known as Out of School Hours Care or OSHC, is available every school day to ensure your child is cared for, fed, and happily engaged, while you manage work and other commitments with peace of mind.
Understanding OOSH Costs
Out of School Hours (OOSH) services vary in cost depending on the program offered, hours needed, and any excursions or activities involved. Before School Care typically covers breakfast and a safe start to the day with supervised play, crafts, and activities, all before the school bell rings. After School Care covers everything from school pickups, afternoon tea, playtime, and structured activities right up until the time you can pick up your child.
Government Subsidies & Support
One thing we find helpful for many of our families is to explore government subsidies that can offset the costs of OOSH care. The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) can significantly reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Depending on your family's income and circumstances, the CCS rate can be up to 90% of the session fees.
Eligible families can significantly reduce the financial burden, making these services accessible while still providing quality care and support. Both CABOOSH and St Clair OOSH are approved services for the CCS.
Service Fees and Care Options
Different centres will have different fees for their services.
Our CABOOSH centre in Camden offers care starting from $41.33 per week for full-time care (after CCS), covering both Before and After School Care during school terms. Individual sessions start from $3.63 for Before School Care and a $5.08 After School Care cost (after CCS). You can see full fees on CABOOSH’s website here.

Our St. Clair OOSH centre in St. Clair provides affordable options starting from $47.85 per week for full-time care (after CCS) during school terms, with individual sessions starting from $4.35 for Before School Care and $5.66 for After School Care (after CCS). Additional Fees & Bonds
In addition to regular session fees, there are a few extra fees, including a bond, to be aware of at our centres. Please note that these additional costs are not eligible for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). A deposit bond ($100 per child) is required to secure your child’s enrolment, and direct debit fees apply for automated payment processing. A late collection fee may be charged if you collect children after closing time, and a late payment fee applies to any overdue fee balances. These measures help ensure our services run smoothly and efficiently for all families.
